If you work in the Gulf, your end of service pay depends on the country. Here is how three of them compare.
| UAE | Qatar | Oman | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum service | 1 year | 1 year | Pays for part-years too |
| Rate | 21 days a year for 5 years, then 30 days | At least 21 days a year | One month a year (from 31 July 2023) |
| Cap | 2 years of wage | None in the minimum rule | None in the minimum rule |
| Wage used | Last basic wage | Last basic wage | Last basic wage |
| Part-years | In proportion | In proportion | In proportion |
In plain words
- UAE: the rate rises after 5 years, but your total is capped.
- Qatar: a steady minimum of three weeks a year. Contracts can pay more.
- Oman: a full month a year under the new law, with older service counted at the old lower rate.
