How this calculator works
If you have worked for at least 1 year, you get 21 days of basic wage for each of your first 5 years, and 30 days for each year after that. Part-years count in proportion. Days of unpaid absence are taken off your service. We take them off the total, which can lower the amount, but check with the Ministry if it affects whether you reach 1 year.
The total cannot be more than 2 years of your wage. We use your basic wage only, divided by 30 for a daily rate, as the law does. Housing, transport and other allowances are not included.
This is an estimate for private-sector workers under the federal law. Your contract, free-zone rules or a savings scheme your employer offers may change the result.

Frequently asked questions
How is gratuity calculated in the UAE?
For each of your first 5 years you get 21 days of basic wage. For each year after that you get 30 days. Part-years count in proportion, and the total cannot be more than 2 years of your wage.
Do allowances count towards gratuity?
No. Gratuity is based on your last basic wage. Housing, transport and similar allowances are not included.
Do I get gratuity if I resign?
Under the current federal law, resigning does not reduce your gratuity once you have 1 year of continuous service. Service from before 2022 and dismissal for serious misconduct may be treated differently, so check with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation. Your notice period and any amounts you owe can change what you receive.
What if I worked less than a year?
You need at least 1 year of continuous service to get end of service gratuity.
Does this apply in DIFC or ADGM?
Not necessarily. Free zones such as DIFC and ADGM have their own employment rules, and government jobs and some savings schemes follow different rules. Check yours.
