How this calculator works
The new Labour Law, Royal Decree 53/2023, gives you at least one month of basic wage for each year of service, from the first year, with part-years in proportion. It came into force on 31 July 2023.
Service before that date follows the old rule: 15 days of basic wage for each of the first 3 years, then 30 days for each year after. If you started before the new law, we work out the two parts separately and add them.
This applies to workers who are not covered by the Social Protection Law, mainly expatriates. We use your last basic wage, and unpaid leave is not counted as service. This is a minimum set by law, so your contract may give more. The Ministry of Labour has the final word on your exact figure.

Under the new law you get at least one month of basic wage for each year of service. Service before 31 July 2023 uses the old rule of 15 days a year for 3 years and 30 days a year after.
What if I started before the new law?
Your service is split at 31 July 2023. The earlier part follows the old rule and the later part follows the new rule, and the two are added together.
Do allowances count?
No. Gratuity is based on your last basic wage.
Does this apply to Omani nationals?
This rule is for workers who are not covered by the Social Protection Law, mainly expatriates. Omani nationals under the Social Protection Law follow that law instead.
