What changed
The IRS set the 2026 income tax figures. The seven tax rates stay the same: 10%, 12%, 22%, 24%, 32%, 35% and 37%. The income ranges and the standard deduction have moved up.
| Filing status | Standard deduction | 10% bracket ends at |
|---|---|---|
| Single | $16,100 | $12,400 |
| Married filing jointly | $32,200 | $24,800 |
| Head of household | $24,150 | $17,700 |
What it means for you
- More of your income is covered by the standard deduction and the lower brackets, so many people owe slightly less tax on the same pay.
- Social Security tax applies to pay up to $184,500 in 2026.
